Miami experienced three major life-changing losses within her family structure in eight years. She lost her father and sister of complicated natural causes and her beloved son Ty-Key, who was shot in an incident which also claimed the life of his friend. Though Ty-Key survived, he lived with PTSD, depression, anxiety and survivor’s remorse. Five years after his attempted murder, Ty-Key died by gun suicide.
 

Miami is a Certified Master Grief Coach with a specialty in bereavement recovery. She authored The Key Process: A Grief Guide to Mastering Spiritual Healing. She’s a Shamanic Energy Practitioner, and the Host of Grief Talk on It’s the Miami Knight Show. She also serves on the National Council for Behavioral Health as a Mental Health First Aider and trained as a QPR Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper.
 

Miami is the CEO/Founder of Miami Knight LLC, a Grief Education and Training Company. Miami is a Gun Violence Prevention Advocate who serves as a volunteer with Moms Demand Action DeKalb as Survivor Membership Lead (SML). She also provides grief support and mentorship with the SurvivorsConnect Leadership Team. Miami’s a voice for the Everytown Survivor Network, a part of both Moms Demand Action and Everytown for Gun Safety sharing her story with an array of audiences.
